About this opportunity


You will complete a Certificate III in Parks & Gardens over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Host Employer, Summit Open Space Services.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide high quality lawn care such as brush cutting, weeding, mowing lawns, pruning trees, spraying pesticides and basic grounds maintenance tasks
  • Maintain grounds for institutes such as University campuses, Utility assets, Government sites, Council Sites, etc.
  • Use hand and power tools such as lawn mowers, whipper snipper, pruners, slashers, chainsaws and blower vacs.
  • Assist in general maintenance duties that are within the limits of the skills, competence and ability of an apprentice

The successful applicant
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:

  • Commitment to both on and off the job training
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Honest and reliable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Physically fit and able to withstand the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to undertake a medical including a drug and alcohol test

Mandatory requirements

  • Current drivers licence (P1 or above), or close to obtaining
  • Current Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NSW Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • White Card (or willingness to obtain)
