NextGen Jobs is hiring a Business Trainee to support the

12 month traineeship based in
Bendigo provides support to the Business Services and Accomodation unit to ensure that DFFH can operate in an effective and efficient manner.


Youth Employment Scheme (YES)


The YES is a Victorian State Government funded initiative designed to increase the workforce participation of young people, particularly those facing significant barriers to employment.

These placements provide trainees with meaningful work experience and formal training to give a solid foundation for a sustainable career.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be aged between 15 and 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
  • Not currently engaged in tertiary education
  • Not have attained a university level qualification (excluding 14 certificates)

Position Overview


The Trainee supports the Business Services and Accommodation unit that are responsible for a range of range of tasks (and not limited to) such as day to day fleet operations, office security and maintenance, provision of ID and access cards, stationery, petty cash, office purchasing and accounts, environmental management and fleet within a major office and surrounding area offices.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide administrative support and effective customer service to branch managers, staff and the public.
  • Answer queries, provide timely advice and take follow up action or escalation as required.
  • Assist in managing identification and security access cards, including handling replacements for lost or damaged cards.
  • Support daytoday operations of fleet management services, including vehicle bookings, log recording, and fringe benefits tax information.
  • Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and collisions, following processes for incident and ensure all relative documentation is completed.
  • Monitor and track scheduled services, fuel exception, kilometres travelled, utilisation, traffic infringements and expired licences.
  • Monitor asset compliance and support the team with regular stock takes of all assets in line with the department's asset management guidelines and policies.
  • Adhere to legislative requirements and occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Complete TAFE studies to get your Certificate III in Business
