The Job Opportunity

Located on the outskirts of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, nestled next to the Huon River, just a short 30-minute drive from Hobart, you'll find Huonville.

Ochre Medical Centre Huonville is on the lookout for a VR General Practitioner to become part of our well-established practice in the stunning Huon Valley. You'll enjoy flexible working hours that fit your lifestyle, all while having the chance to earn a competitive income.

The clinic holds AGPAL accreditation and operates on a mixed billing system that caters to its diverse patient base. You will be working alongside a skilled team consisting of General Practitioners, GP registrars, Registered Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, and a range of allied health professionals, including a Diabetes Educator, Psychologist, Social Worker, and an experienced Clinical Pharmacist. The team serves patients across three locations: the main clinic in Huonville, along with branch practices in Cygnet and Bruny Island.

Moreover, it's a certified teaching clinic for medical students from the University of Tasmania and GP Registrars. The clinic actively participates in general practice research projects in collaboration with the University of Wollongong and the University of Tasmania.

With an emergency walk-in service managed by nurses, the clinic also offers nurse-led chronic disease care and wound treatment. You'll have the opportunity to conduct skin cancer screenings and minor procedures in the purpose-built rooms at Huonville and Cygnet.

In addition, you'll be able to admit patients to rural health beds or visit nursing home residents at Huon Eldercare, a care facility located just south of Huonville in Franklin. HVHC nurses will assist you with health assessments and case reviews.
