The Shire of Denmark is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to take on the role of Re-vegetation Officer in the Shire's Infrastructure and Assets Directorate.

This role is perfect for someone who is experienced, loves the outdoors, enjoys working with plants, can lead by example, and has a positive can-do attitude towards work, while also being comfortable working independently.

We are seeking an individual who thrives in physical environments and finds joy in all aspects of horticultural work.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement best practices for rehabilitating disturbed sites within the Shire, including site planning, planting, weed control, and other relevant tasks
  • Supply high-quality seeds and seedlings sourced from the site for rehabilitation, managing stock levels in the Shire Nursery
  • Monitor plant health, identify pests, diseases, and any other issues
  • Contribute to the budget planning to ensure quality re-vegetation materials
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships within the community
  • Collaborate with government agencies, schools, and the local community for re-vegetation projects
  • Maintain a safe working environment for the team and the public while performing tasks

Requirements:
  • Physically fit and able to engage in manual labor
  • Certification in chainsaw operation, chemical handling/application, and White or Blue card
  • Valid 'C' class drivers license
  • Preferably certified in conservation land management, horticulture, or nursery training
