The Research & Assessment unit at AEIOU combines research endeavors and clinical evaluations of children with our therapy services to gain deeper insights into the needs and capabilities of the children and families we assist.

Our database, comprising over 1,000 records, stands as Australia's largest repository of information on children with autism below the age of six.

The Position:

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Head of Research plays a pivotal role in formulating and evaluating AEIOU's research strategy. This entails offering guidance, leadership, and counsel to other ELT members, the CEO, and the Board.

Tasked with providing top-tier clinical assessments to autistic children, you will utilize the gathered data to steer research, comprehend and assess AEIOU's program, and contribute to delineating the organization's strategic objectives.

You will render extensive support and supervision to your team of research and clinical assessment professionals, fostering their growth through mentorship and coaching, while also nurturing and promoting partnerships with other collaborators, such as prominent research institutions, academic figures, and industry experts.

About you:
  • Hold a Doctorate of Philosophy or a postgraduate degree in psychology, special education, or a related field
  • Possess experience or profound knowledge of autism
  • Demonstrate expertise in executing quantitative research across all research phases
  • Familiarity with clinical outcome data in the context of behavioral and cognitive evaluations of young children
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of professionals
  • Preferred registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
  • Hold a valid COVID-19 Vaccination certificate (double-dosed) or an authorized Government Exemption
  • Have a current Paid Blue Card or the ability to acquire one before commencement
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check is mandatory if your Blue Card was applied for or renewed after 1 February 2021
