Situated at Hazelmere and Redcliffe facilities, under the supervision of the Principal Engineer Industrial Automation – Heavy Industry, we are seeking an experienced EV Charging System Communication Engineer to contribute to the delivery of a series of charging solutions for Heavy Machinery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing EVSE communications for the Fortescue charger program, ensuring timely and budget-friendly deliverables.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert for EV to EVSE communication.
  • Proficiency in communication software and hardware design and simulation for EV charging applications.
  • Expertise in EVSE implementation, collaborating with various external stakeholders.
  • Utilizing modern task management tools like JIRA for progress tracking and issue reporting.
  • Collaborating closely with control system engineers for equipment interfacing.
  • Working within a V-Model product development framework with other engineering disciplines.
  • Contributing to software development lifecycle workflow and establishing necessary processes.
  • Ensuring EV charging system design, implementation, and testing meet industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Validating EVCC and SECC communication for quality and reliability.
  • Focus on product development to deliver manufacturing-ready solutions.
  • Providing knowledge sharing and mentoring within the industrial automation team.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Telecommunication, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Over 5 years of experience in EV charging systems design, deployment, testing, and commissioning.
  • Systems engineering experience in a product development setting.
  • Proficiency in CCS charging standards.
  • Familiarity with MCS (Megawatt Charging System).
  • Thorough understanding and working experience with ISO, OCPP standards.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Git, and software development workflows.
  • Advantageous experience in Functional Safety standards and Cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of industrial communications protocols like CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, OPC UA.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fast learner with adaptability to dynamic environments.
