Data Center Construction Technical Lead

DESCRIPTION
As a Construction Technical Lead, you will play a key role in a dynamic team dedicated to solving complex challenges and enhancing the efficiency of Amazon Data Centers operations. These data centers are recognized for their innovative and economical designs.
You will collaborate closely with the design team to develop new scalable delivery approaches, optimize existing strategies, and address construction issues to prevent recurring issues. An important aspect of your role will involve influencing the design and construction processes to apply best practices, enhance delivery efficiency for projects in APAC and globally, and establish innovative protocols for future systems development.
In this position, you will be a part of APAC's construction leadership team, supporting construction activities in India (IND), North Asia (NA), South East Asia (SEA), Australia, and New Zealand (ANZ). This role offers a unique perspective allowing you to oversee projects across different geographical regions.

Your daily tasks will encompass the entire lifecycle of data center construction, from site selection to commissioning.
Key job responsibilities
- Travel to different data centers, Amazon offices, or vendor locations as needed for project support or training, involving domestic and international travel.
- Collaborate with General Contractors on various data center construction sites, overseeing disciplines such as civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning to enhance operational efficiency.
- Partner with contractors, developers, and vendors to deliver effective modular solutions that meet high quality standards.
- Inspect and review construction work to ensure site safety, quality control, and compliance with project documents.
- Monitor and report construction metrics, including safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Implement process improvements to address design-related challenges and enhance quality outcomes.
- Promote best practices within the team, navigate through ambiguity, identify and mitigate risks proactively, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
- 7-10 years of experience in design, construction, or program management of mission critical facilities.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
- Proven expertise in interpreting construction drawings and evaluating new technologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Direct involvement in the design or construction of large data centers.
- Negotiation skills with vendors and contractors, along with experience in fast-track projects.
- Knowledge of building regulations and mechanical/power systems.
- Familiarity with international companies in APAC and US.
