About the Role


We have a unique opportunity for experienced, innovative and motivated Clinical Data Support person with recent clinical experience and a good knowledge of health literacy, to be part of the perioperative and Critical Care team at Western Health.

This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent computer skills and experience managing databases who is able to work effectively as part of a team.


The Clinical data Support person is required to manage data in the Surgery, Cardiology and Intensive Care programs, and will be responsible for, updating, maintenance and validation of clinical and reporting databases.

The Clinical Data Support person is key member of the Perioperative and Critical Care team, and should be able to prioritise work in line with reporting requirements, quality activities and projects.


The role requires the formation of strong working relationships with the Perioperative and Critical Care Division's teams and the ability to both understand and support their business, management, and information requirements.

Essential criteria

The successful applicant(s) will possess:

  • Recent Clinical Experience
  • Good knowledge of health literacy including Diagnosis, treatments, pathology and medications.
  • Highly developed customer service skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritise duties
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft excel and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage under pressure
  • Previous experience in managing databases
  • Excellent analytical and logical skills

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in data systems testing and systems upgrade
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in clinical coding
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Working knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology
  • Proven problem solving and creative skills
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to train others
  • Knowledge of sequel reporting program
