The role


In Adelaide we are fortunate to assist a diverse range of young customers in our Out of Home Care Accommodation Services.

These young people have a range of conditions including challenging behaviours, attachment disorders, anxiety, depression, aggression, post-traumatic stress and disengagement.

We are seeking Support Workers who are resilient and have a sound understanding of the importance of supporting young people in line our commitment to the Child Protection Act 1999.


The focus and purpose of these particular roles are to provide therapeutic support to Young People within our Supported Independent Living Service.

The young people you support are preparing to transition to independent living, the program will focus on a holistic approach to Up-skilling young people to make great life choices and develop the skills needed for independent life post 18.

In this role you will support the young people to identify goals and to work towards them.

This will be achieved by working alongside the young person and doing WITH them as opposed to doing FOR them.

You will help them to problem solve and navigate external support systems.


In this role you will enable our young people to improve their quality of life, participation in the community, ensure that service delivery is person-centred.

You will achieve this by fully utilising a therapeutic framework focussing on strengths-based intervention and support.

Your responsibilities will include:

Goal setting
  • The young people identify the goals, and you will support them to achieve them through the development of SMART goals, weekly planners, care plans and the establishment of daily routines.

Mentoring and skill development - guiding young people to develop independent living skills

  • Being a positive role model and providing positive support in areas such as emotional behaviour, personal care and hygiene, transport, education, cooking and domestic duties
  • Administering medication and adherence to support plans
  • Completing clear, concise, and factual handover notes and incident reports
  • Managing complex and challenging behaviours (including aggressive behaviours)
  • Helping young people to engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities

About you

  • Demonstrated motivation to work with young people
  • Available to work rotating rosters including weekends and overnights shifts.
  • Current paid DHS Working with Children Check
  • Valid driver's license
  • First aid certificate
  • Current Psychological Assessment (within 5 years)
  • NDIS Worker Checks
  • Up to date Covid vaccinations
  • Qualification hold or be working towards a minimum Certificate IV. Please review the recognised Minimum Qualification Standards here.


 Completed training modules
  • KidSafe (infant safe training) & Child Safe Environment "through their eyes".
