About the Role:

We're looking for a driven and experienced Senior Estimator with proven office fitout experience to join our Project Management team.

The Estimator position is responsible for compiling estimates of costings to provide clients or potential clients with Design and Construct products and services and create budgets accordingly. The role includes assessing material, labour and equipment required and analysing cost comparisons of sub-contractors and suppliers.

The Estimator will play a crucial role in preconstruction management, including detailed site visits to assess project requirements and identify potential project risks and associated risk costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Sales team members to obtain client budget expectations
  • Completing estimates in compliance with the clients/ stakeholder expectations of time and quality
  • Liaise with Design team members to ensure pricing is accurate with the Design Intent as well as making recommendations of finishes to meet the project budget
  • Liaise with Internal divisions (Plasterboard, Electrical, Manufacturing) to establish scope, pricing and recommendations to meet project budget
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers through tender period
  • Extensive knowledge and research to ensure understanding of current market values across all aspects of the project stages without reliance of trades quotes
  • Liaise with Construction Manager and Sales team regarding project margins to ensure companies expected margins will be met
  • Provide subcontractor and supplier selections and recommendations
  • Provide project scope of works and budget estimates to delivery team/s
  • Manage estimating handovers to the Project Delivery team/s
  • Ensure subcontractor,supplier and estimating database are maintained and current
  • Understand Sheldon's Confidentiality Policy and regulations around liaising confidential information to suppliers and or clients
  • Assist Delivery team with any estimating requirements during the project
  • Reduce risk and maximise profit for the company
  • Attend and participate in client presentations and tender interviews as required
  • Site attendance to identify and assess building limitations and/or risks to enable accurate pricing
  • Attendance to on-site meetings as required with clients, sales team, contractors, suppliers
  • Attendance at internal Sales and Project Management divisional meetings

About you:

Personal drive, initiative and resourcefulness, alongside excellent communications skills, are qualities we look for in the role. We're looking for candidates with a can-do attitude, ability to problem solve and perform to timelines.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building and Construction, Quantity Surveying or Project Management, Certificate IV or higher
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the Construction Industry in the commercial fit-out and refurbishment sector as an Estimator
  • Sound understanding of working with Design & Construct proposals with prompt budget and market tendering experience
  • Working experience in MS Project, Excel, and Word are essential, experience in Procore and Proest desirable.
