About the opportunity

Our programs are designed to support whilst making the transition from student to Registered Midwife within a supportive and welcoming environment. The aim is to promote educational opportunities to graduates as you consolidate your theoretical and clinical skills. This is a structured program with a comprehensive orientation, paid professional development days, and debriefing sessions which are supported by a dedicated learning team.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be presented with a certificate of completion.

  • Applicants must be registered with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria Computer Matching Service and rank Mercy Health in their preferences. For further information visit:

Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Registration as a Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.

All applications must include the following documents:

  • Letter of application stating preferred hospital location, areas of clinical interest, preferred rotations, rationale for choice and future career plans
  • Two page Curriculum vitae, relevant experience and clinical rotations
  • Two referees (need to be clinical referees) including their professional title, place of work and both email and phone contact details
  • Certified copy of academic transcripts to date (including 'key to results')
  • Two recent and certified acute summative clinical appraisals
  • Please note PMCV interviews will be utilised for the review of applications
