We are currently looking to engage passionate and enthusiastic individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds who want to embark on a rewarding journey as an Apprentice Boilermaker.


Komatsu Underground will support you as you undertake four years of nationally recognised training, completing your Cert III - Engineering (Fabrication), while being paid to perfect your skills in our state-of-the-art workshops.


You will gain hands-on experience in constructing, maintaining, and repairing underground equipment, as well as having access to a range of other learning and development opportunities to support your career both personally and professionally.


As an Apprentice Boilermaker, What will I learn?:

  • Construct, maintain and repair components of Komatsu's range of underground mining equipment including miners, longwalls, roof supports and shuttle cars.
  • Align structures and plate sections, use hand welding and power tools to assemble equipment and gain expertise in welding techniques.
  • Use heat, pressure and cutting tools to join metal and perform quality checks.
  • Read machine schematics and detailed equipment drawings.
  • Implement and follow comprehensive safety processes and quality control measures.
  • Gain skills and competencies on a range of hand tools, business skills, public speaking, and leadership.

  • A genuine interest and passion for all things Fabricating.
  • A willingness to learn and a strong attention to detail.
  • Driver's License and access to your own reliable transport to and from site.
  • An interest in the Komatsu Underground business and our cool equipment.
  • A commitment to fulfilling and successfully passing all practical and theorybased study requirements of your Apprenticeship.
  • A basic understanding of hand tools.
