Location: 37 Constitution Ave, Reid

WFH/Onsite Requirements: Combination - approx. 3 days onsite, 2 days WFH

Reporting to the Director of People Support and Wellbeing, the Assistant Director will be a member of the People and Culture leadership team and will assist with the day-to-day delivery of employee support and wellbeing services including implementation of the new Wellbeing Plan and procurement of associated services; facilitating investigations into misconduct; and injury management oversight.

This position will work closely with other areas of the Branch to achieve outcomes in a collaborative, solutions focussed approach, and will require an in depth understanding of misconduct, injury management and compensation processes across the ACT Public Service and the application of relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

Duties will include:
  • Provision of technical advice and guidance to directorates staff and managers on misconduct, injury management and wellbeing support services.
  • Leading the implementation of the directorates Wellbeing Plan and procurement services to support the initiatives of the project.
  • Undertaking misconduct processes including associated investigations and sanctions recommendations.
  • Assisting with compensation and non-compensation processes.
  • Preparing complex briefing materials, correspondence, briefs and reports.
  • Form productive partnerships with internal and external clients to facilitate successful negotiation.
  • Working collaboratively across P&C and contributing to the effective delivery of branch and section functions and priorities.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of complex misconduct and injury management processes, proven ability to conduct detailed preliminary assessments and demonstrate high level research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills and the ability to produce high quality written correspondence and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, applying relevant legislation and associated processes in a public sector environment, and an understanding of the relevant ACTPS Enterprise Agreements, the Fair Work Act 2009.

PERSONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Cultivate productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders utilising sound communication, liaison and negotiation skills to achieve individual, team and /or organisational results.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to produce quality work under pressure, and manage highly sensitive and complex issues with discretion and sound judgement.
  • Commitment to a positive work culture by modelling the directorates Cultural Traits (Customer Centric, Professionalism, Collaborative, Trusted, Adaptable, Accountable, and Inspirational) and the ACT Public Sector Employee Values (Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation).

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS OR HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • Experience in misconduct and injury management processes.
  • Experience in ACT Public Service is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications or experience in Human Resources management or a similar field will be highly regarded.
