An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen for a Principal Strategy Lead to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing part of Digital.

NSW within the Department of Customer Service.


NSW Telco Authority has developed the NSW Connectivity Strategy to drive the alignment and optimisation of state-wide connectivity programs and opportunities across government.

This will ensure the necessary digital portfolio, funding and priorities are in place to support a world class customer-centric digital government.

The role sits within the Whole of Government Connectivity Leadership team in the Strategy & Innovation unit of NSW Telco Authority.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for delivering a range of actions and projects under the NSW Connectivity Strategy.
  • Lead the development of connectivity metrics, dashboards and governance mechanisms to align agencies around the strategy.
  • Shape and contribute to future iterations of the NSW Connectivity strategy and its implementation for NSW.
  • Establish and build successful partnerships with industry and government agencies and identify new ways of solving digital connectivity challenges.
  • Lead the development of business cases for Commonwealth and state funding opportunities, including leading the compilation of business case documents and synthesizing technical, financial and strategic inputs.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive strategy or policy development and delivery experience such as from within government, through consulting or other roles.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong team leadership experience and management skills.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and partnership skills, with experience working across government and with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesise and present complex information, including to senior executives and Ministerial offices.

We work with emergency services and telecommunications carriers to protect communications assets during emergencies and natural disasters.


NSWTA is a delivery agency with responsibility for over $1.5 billion in key NSW Government projects that connect communities and support emergency services.

We lead and coordinate whole-of-government connectivity strategy to bridge the digital divide and help keep people and places safe.

NSWTA operates as a standalone Statutory Authority within the Department of Customer Service.

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $134,411 base plus superannuation
