Where Your Journey Begins:
We are on the lookout for a skilled and safety-conscious Mechanical Shift Fitter to join our team at the plant in the southwest region of Western Australia. Situated near Dardanup, the Laminex manufacturing facility provides a fantastic workplace environment and a wide array of industrial manufacturing machinery, making it an ideal destination for those interested in a Mechanical Shift role. At Laminex, we take pride in our dedication to maintaining highly efficient and dependable assets throughout our manufacturing processes. As a mechanical shift worker, you will be tasked with working across all processing areas, gaining invaluable experience in maintenance at the forefront of the manufacturing sector. Currently, our workforce consists of 185 employees, with the majority following a continuous shift schedule.

The Role You'll Fulfill:
The Shift Fitter plays a crucial role in ensuring minimal disruptions to plant operations. They oversee all manufacturing zones, promptly identifying and dealing with any issues, and collaborating with production and support teams when necessary. Their primary responsibility is to effectively maintain plant machinery to ensure maximum uptime. This position demands a sound grasp of both reactive and preventive maintenance strategies to address and resolve potential production disruptions.

This is a round-the-clock operation, involving 4 x 12-hour shifts (2 x 6 am-6 pm, 2 x 6 pm-6 am) followed by 4 days off. Uniforms are provided on-site.

Main Areas of Focus & Responsibilities Will Encompass:

  • Safety Mindset: Actively demonstrate a personal dedication to safety and our PROTECT safety ethos.
  • Task Prioritization: Evaluate the urgency and impact of equipment malfunctions to effectively prioritize repair tasks, ensuring critical areas are dealt with first.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Diagnosis: Skillfully diagnose the underlying causes of equipment failures to swiftly implement effective repair solutions.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Carry out repairs on machinery and equipment to restore functionality, such as pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, and conveyors. Perform necessary maintenance duties, including PM inspections, corrective tasks, and day shift assistance.
  • Work Environment: Foster and maintain positive relationships with both Production and Maintenance teams.

To Succeed in This Role, Candidates Should Ideally Have:

  • Trade Certificate - Maintenance Fitter
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Capable of working under both supervision and independently
  • Experience in manufacturing or processing settings
  • Confined space entry, EWP, Working at Heights, and Rigging certifications
