The Role

We are currently seeking a Project Controls Lead responsible for overseeing project cost control services for a project portfolio valued at over $1 billion.
In this capacity, you will lead and support a skilled team of Project Control Analysts and report to the General Manager, Commercial & Strategy.
This is a permanent role that can be based in any major city (Queensland). It is a Professional & Managerial Grade Three position with salaries starting at $186k + super.

Some of your core responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team that assists Project Managers in managing scope, schedule, cost, contract, and risk for precise and timely project performance reporting.
  • Offering advanced program/project financial planning for the project portfolio.
  • Cultivating stakeholder relationships to uphold high-quality and timely project reporting standards.
  • Utilizing expert knowledge to assess impacts, identify risks, deliver outcomes, and propose solutions for risk management.
  • Contributing actively to enhancing project cost processes and methodologies to ensure adherence to project budgets and financial governance.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and project teams to define project budgets and provide project accounting recommendations when necessary.
  • Directing the preparation of reports and monitoring of project controls, including KPIs and schedules, to meet the project's contractual requirements.
  • Oversighting the development and continuous management of cost and planning control structures aligned with the project Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Efficiently managing information and confidentiality requirements across Energy Queensland Limited as per relevant parameters.
  • Displaying personal dedication to health, safety, environment, and promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Adhering to all relevant legislations, policies, procedures, and practices.

About You

You boast a solid track record in leading project control/cost control teams in dynamic, fast-paced business environments, delivering profitable projects.
You possess a profound understanding of Engineering Procurement, Construction (EPC), and Principal Contractor pricing models and agreements, especially in lump sum/hard dollar contracts.
You have supported projects, each with a minimum value of $100 million.
You have experience in leading, managing, enhancing, and mentoring high-performing professional teams.
You demonstrate strong commercial acumen, showcasing expertise in project strategy setting, commercial modeling/forecasting, performance reporting, financial management, and risk management.

Essentials

  • Degree qualifications in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum five years' experience leading Project Control teams in Construction, Energy, Mining/Resources sectors.
