Role description:


With the boom in high-profile complex infrastructure projects, we are involved in, we are looking to expand the team and have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Flood Modeller to join our _Highway _s and _Civil _team.

This position can be based in our Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Gold Coast or Brisbane offices.

Role accountabilities:

As part of the Victorian Drainage & Flooding team:

  • Your work will encompass leading teams through the development of hydrological and hydraulic models (flood modelling) and authoring reports or other documentation.
  • You will be responsible for leading elements of projects and collaborating with junior team members, taking responsibility for own resourcing and potentially resource allocation of others.
  • Work within a defined area of responsibility on projects with flooding elements. This will include being responsible for specific parts of a design package within a project.
  • Carry out technical reviews of hydrological and hydraulic models and be responsible for the development of others through providing guidance, training, and feedback.
  • Represent your team or technical discipline at external meetings with clients or project stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the delivery of flood modelling tasks, including meeting budget, timeframe and quality targets, exceeds client expectations.
  • Resolving technical flood modelling issues and providing solutions.

You are a technically capable Flood Modeller with experience in drainage design for _civil _infrastructure or land development projects and come to us with:

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant skills.
  • Extensive postgraduate experience, most likely in consulting engineering or a similar local/state government role, with exposure to mediumlarge and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Professional experience with TUFLOW (1D, _2D _, combined 1D/ _2D _) is an essential criterion.
  • Flood modelling with other hydraulic modelling packages such as HEC-RAS is desirable.
  • Hydrologic analysis using multiple software packages (e.g., RORB, RAFTS, etc.)
  • Experience in GIS software such as MapInfo, QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
  • An ability and desire to work on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in dealing with clients and business development.
  • Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines (Melbourne Water and Vic _Road _s/Aust _road _s standards).
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership will be highly regarded.
  • An interest in innovative solutions, developing others and submitting conference papers.
  • Drainage design experience would also be highly regarded.
