About the role

Mater's Finance department is undergoing an exciting transformation and is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to join the team. Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane/Mater Hospital Brisbane (MPHB & MHB), in this role, you will support both MPHB & MHB within your portfolio. This is a permanent, full-time position located at our South Brisbane campus.

As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will offer strategic financial guidance and direction, assisting the Finance and Operations Manager in providing top-notch business partnering and management accounting support to key stakeholders.

Salary range: $124, $134, MCA 7) per year plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you'll be doing

Typical responsibilities of the role include:

Provide leadership and guidance to Finance Business Partners and Assistant Finance Business Partners Mentor and nurture the team to maintain high technical expertise and business partnering skills Coordinate the preparation of accurate and timely divisional performance reports monthly Lead budget preparation tasks for the facility/corporate/Ministry within activity-based funding limitations Prepare precise and insightful performance reports monthly for the facility/corporate/Ministry Lead or actively participate in performance review meetings, offering valuable insights and recommendations for financial enhancement Coordinate budget cycle tasks for the facility/corporate/Ministry, including finalizing cost center budgets and maintaining budget reports Prepare regular full-year forecasts for the facility/corporate/Ministry, identify potential variances from annual budget targets, and develop recommendations for improved financial performance Ensure proper resource allocation planning for the facility/corporate/Ministry and cost center levels Provide high-level business partner support to relevant stakeholders Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties Lead and assist in business case development within your portfolio Coordinate capital investment planning tasks for the facility/corporate/Ministry, including tracking expenditure to approved budgets and reporting Support the review of contractual agreements and grant proposals Ensure alignment of contracts and grant proposals with organizational goals and financial policies Identify and communicate potential financial risks, opportunities, and requirements related to contracts and grants Collaborate with procurement, project managers, and program coordinators to negotiate favorable terms Proactively identify system and process enhancements Develop and deliver professional development programs for financial management functions

About you

To succeed in this role, you should have relevant qualifications, membership in a recognized Australian accounting body (CA/CPA), and experience in management accounting within a large public health organization.

Effective coordination and leadership within healthcare accounting services Experience in leading high-performing teams aligned with modern HR practices Strong communication, negotiation, consultation, and change management skills Ability to provide effective financial advice within a healthcare setting Strategic thinking, analytical skills, and innovation in service planning and clinical management Previous business partnering experience in a sizeable organization Track record of contributing to strategic decision-making and enhancing financial outcomes Demonstrated proficiency in presentation and report writing Excellent time management, prioritization, and organization abilities Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders while embodying corporate values Meeting deadlines consistently and problem-solving proactively Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP systems Experience with reporting tools like TM1 and PowerBI to drive decisions
