Based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital Royal Park Campus

  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital Prosthetics & Orthotics Department is committed to supporting patients through rehabilitation and to enjoy mobility in the community. Technical Officers are responsible for manufacturing orthopaedic devices that are designed and fitted by a Prosthetist/Orthotist to assist people with conditions such as amputation and stroke. On the job training is provided by experienced technicians and clinical staff.
  • Our technical Officers have flexible work conditions, 5 weeks annual leave and work in a team that values innovation and patient focused care.

Your new role:

  • Fabrication of a broad range of orthopaedic devices that are designed and fitted by a Prosthetist/Orthotist.
  • Support stock management.
  • Demonstrate your skills working with power tools, plastic moulding, fibre lamination, computer aided design and 3D printing.
  • Assist in training students and clinical staff in fabrication techniques and workshop safety.
