What's the opportunity?
As a Fibre Planner & Designer, you are responsible for the Planning and Design of the Vocus Fibre network.

What's the day to day?

  • Provide sales with presales designs and estimate cost for connection requests and bids
  • Monitor and manage network capacity creating new, network upgrade and network rearrangement orders where required.
  • Plan and design Optical fibre paths utilising multiple assets including third party leased assets and civil construction including but not limited to new connections, capacity upgrades, network extensions, relocations and cancellations.
  • Plan and design Optical fibre paths for all fibre circuits, including but not limited to new connections, capacity upgrades, network extensions, relocations and cancellations.
  • Provide plans to the designs created.
  • Comply with and monitor Safety In Design Concepts whilst designing the Vocus Fibre Network.
  • Manage fibre records across the national network
  • Creation of splice schedules/designs for allocation to Workforce and contractors
  • Provide direction as appropriate to the Workforce and contractors on carrying out allocated tasks
  • Provide various reports and other duties as requested by management
  • Ensure services are delivered within times specified in contract
  • Assistance in fault situations during core business hours
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders strategically to extend the Vocus Network
  • Provide support to new Technology introductions.
  • Plan and design new Technologies onto the Vocus Fibre network
  • Proactively identify possible improvements to systems and processes
  • Involvement in implementation of improved systems and processe

What you will need to be successful:

  • Previous experience in telecommunications in a similar role
  • High level of experience planning out projects
  • Good computer literacy
  • High level experience using Microsoft software and GIS based systems
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • High level of customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
