Mechanical Fitter - Rail Component - Workshop.

Company Overview:


Our Valued Rail services client is one of the largest integrated & diversified suppliers of railroad and transit system products & services in Australia.

An opportunity exists for a Mechanical Fitters who are completing Rail Component Overhaul Techs to join their team (Mon - Fri Day shift) based in Auburn, New South Wales.


Role Tasks & Duties:

The role includes but not limited to:

  • Primary tasks will be to assemble gear boxes & motors, wheel sets, bearings & brake components, test & commission in a controlled workshop environment.
  • Also will be responsible for (deceasing), dissembling, cleaning, overhauling, servicing of rail components.
  • Interpretation detailed schematic drawings to ensure accurate retro fit replacement of rail components.
  • Frequent Forklift & Overhead crane operating to move large scale component & material movements in a fast paced heavy rail workshop.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are performed in accordance with relevant maintenance documentation.
  • Provide recommendations to management on methods and procedures with a view to more efficient operations of the facility and maintainability of rolling stock.

Required Skills, Experience and Competencies:

  • Australian Trade Diploma Certification III in Mechanical essential, LF Forklift License highly desirable.
  • Previous experience on rail, freight maintenance or service activities highly desirable or heavy maintenance components.
  • Heavy industrial Fitters (Mining, Aviation, Naval, Earth / Mobile Plant & Bus industry) are eligible to apply.
  • Proven strong skill set and ability in disassembly, reassembly, fault finding, diagnostics / trouble shooting & component overall.
  • Ability to proactively organise / prioritise work task in a professional efficient manner both in an autonomous and team workshop.
  • High level communications and interpersonal skills.
  • High level problem solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to further their knowledge and skills with additional training.

Additional requirements:

  • Passing a preemployment medical.
  • Australian fulltime working rights.
  • Valid LF Forklift License & Overhead crane verification of competency advantageous.

What Is On Offer?
