ALS Geochemistry is looking for

Fire Assayer to work in our Fire Assay facility in

Malaga.

Fire Assay is a process for the analysis of precious metals in mineral samples. If you are used to working with your hands, being active and following set procedures, you can utilize your laboring or manufacturing process skills to build a new career path in the Analytical Services Industry.

This is a Casual entry-level position, but our demand within the mining industry ensures more than adequate hours are available for those who wish to work hard and increase their earning capacity.

_Pay rate is 31.70 per hour plus shift loading and it will increase in October 2023 to $33.53 per hour plus shift loading._
These positions will involve

weekly rotating shifts:
Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts of days/afternoons/nights
with some weekend work and additional overtime available.


As you build your experience in this role, you can secure a full-time position and earn higher pay rates, with the addition of shift allowances of 15% for the afternoon shift and 20% for the night shift.

Additionally, penalty rates are paid for any weekend or other overtime (optional) and are added to the hourly rate.

The day to day:

  • Perform fire assay techniques such as fluxing, fusing and cupellation
  • Maintain and record equipment faults
  • Maintain productivity and turnaround time
  • Correct disposal of cupels and fire assay lead wastes
  • Inspecting samples, fusions, lead buttons and prills to ensure the assaying process was correct
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment

  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • The ability to work in a hot, manualintensive work environment
  • To be flexible and reliable to meet the high demands of the section
