ABOUT THE ROLE


Our Support Workers actively engage the people we support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence, supporting them with their recovery journey.

Our SIL home in
Maroubra **provides 24/7 residential support for women who primarily have a diagnosis of mental health but may also have a Psychosocial Disability, an Intellectual Disability and/or Physical Health need.


The current opportunity is
Part Time hours per week) with day, overnight (active) & weekend shifts available, and
starting remuneration based on relevant skills and experience in line with the SCHADS Award (increasing in July), plus leave loading, superannuation & salary packaging
.



  • Responsibilities_:_
  • Building the capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills of the people we support by assisting them with daily activities (e.g. domestic, health, social, community access)
  • Building rapport and managing challenging behaviours by following established plans
  • Providing support to attend regular meetings with case managers and health professionals
  • Writing accurate case notes and recording them using the online ICLA client management system
  • Enabling the social inclusion of ICLA clients in the community
  • Maintaining infection control measures and adapting to evolving Covid19 requirements.

ABOUT YOU

  • Essential Criteria_
  • One years' experience working with people with complex mental health _OR_ relevant qualification _OR_ 1 years' experience working in a caring role.
  • Enthusiasm, a 'can do' attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to engage in continuous learning and development opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problemsolving skills, boundaries, ability to follow a plan and creative thinking
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Right to work in Australia,
  • A current driver's license and confidence driving in Sydney
  • Current NDIS Check or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
  • Your own smartphone/device to access our apps for managing work information (training will be provided)
  • Desirable:_
- _ Indonesian and/or Cantonese speaking applicants_ are highly regarded for this particular home

  • Experience working in a residential care environment
  • Relevant qualification or work experience in mental health or disability support
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or willingness to learn provision of supports in a trauma informed way
  • Ability to deescalate consumers in distress with empathy, patience and understanding
