Foundation Recruitment is currently seeking a Principal Planner - Sustainability for a large Local Government based in their Caboolture Office.


You will be providing planning expertise and leading the delivery of highly complex sustainability, environmental, climate change, and carbon reduction projects and services to meet the needs of the organisation and the community within the Moreton Bay Regional area.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice in environmental and sustainability planning matters in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
  • Take a leadership role in the development of team capability to drive high performance, continuous improvement and customerfocused culture.
  • Provide specialist technical expertise into the development, integration and implementation of key strategies and policies relating to sustainability, climate change, carbon emissions reduction and other significant major planning initiatives.
  • Facilitate projectbased community consultation including representing Council at a range of customer meetings, and community and business forums.
  • Build high level relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects and service deliverables are achieved.
  • Act as a department delegate and advocate on a variety of projects, providing a source of professional advice to key stakeholders.

Experience:

  • Any of the following, Environmental planning or Sustainability, climate change, strategic planning, and project management.
  • Substantial experience in the delivery of highly complex environmental and sustainability planning projects, including leading and mentoring multidisciplinary projectbased teams.

  • Highlevel experience providing expert advice and recommendations on strategy and policy on sustainability, climate change, carbon emissions reduction and other significant planning matters.
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals and project teams in response to changes in direction in uncertain or emergent circumstances and in a rapidly changing policy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complex environmental planning concepts and matters in a simple and concise manner (both verbally and in written form) and negotiate safe, practicable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Substantial experience in stakeholder consultation and engagement associated with the delivery of highly complex environmental and sustainability projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant degree qualification

Current C class driver's licence.
