Our Service:

The Head to Health service is a brand new service for adults in Western Sydney seeking emotional wellbeing and mental health support. The service provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support and a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress. Allowing low risk individuals to identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department and gaining access support from trained mental health professional within their community, outside a clinical setting.

Role Overview:

Provide specialist coaching, guidance and mentoring to Peer Workers. Whilst working collaboratively with external stakeholders to successfully deliver the Head to Health service.

  • Provide person-centred guidance and mentoring to Peer Workers, to support the implementation of the Head to Health service and adhere to the model of service.
  • Deliver direct and personalised assistance to consumers through the support service, providing referrals, and linking with appropriate services and monitoring and reporting progress.
  • Use personal lived experience of mental health recovery to connect with consumers and provide support in a recovery-oriented, person-centred, and strengths-based way.
  • Works in close partnership with the Leadership team to provide leadership, practice development and mentoring sessions to the Peer Support team using a strengths-based and recovery – focused approach.
  • Consultation, liaison, and linkage with internal and external service systems to provide a full range of tailored supports.
  • Active participation within relevant interagency networks and with consumers, families and extended agencies as required.
  • Routinely perform Outcome Measures as per the Stride Outcome Measure Framework, and facilitate other reporting, feedback and research activities as required.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Peer Work, or Mental Health

Experience & Skills

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery and proactivity in managing wellbeing
  • Previous experience in peer work and leadership
  • Ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed people
  • Demonstrated effective listening, communication skills, empathy and the capacity to relate with others with dignity and respect
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to lead staff and cultural change through influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply thoughtful and ethical decision making and act within professional boundaries
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
  • Current Driver's License
