About the role:

The job is within a team responsible for the development, review, and maintenance of instructional, training, assessment and communication material including website design.

A content author is required to revise documents to ensure that they are written to a high standard, are clear and easy to follow and fit-for-purpose.


Duties:

  • Draft, review and manage a range of technical documents and formats, including feature guides, troubleshooting guides and step-by step instructional documents.
  • Write user-friendly content that is plain English and meets the needs of the target audience and departmental standards.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Software Developers, Change Managers and users to develop new and existing documentation.
  • Validate documentation against the system.
  • Work independently and as a member of a small team.


Required experience/skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing of software documentation.
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Excellent written skills in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic familiarity with software development.
  • The ability to work under limited direction with a high level of independence.
  • Organisation skills including the ability to establish clear plans and timeframes.
  • Interpersonal skills that enable the development and maintenance of positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
