About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Performance & Contracts, this is a pivotal role within the Service Delivery Team.

As the Manager of Contract & Energy you will be responsible for:

leading a team of electrical network specialists and contract managers to ensure that Melbourne Water optimises how we govern and manage energy assets and electrical work practices, to ensure safe, reliable operation of critical assets, to deliver expected revenue and operational benefits.

Developing and implementing a strategy and the governance required to meet Melbourne Water's High Voltage Operating Authority obligations, driving safe and reliable practices aligned with industry best practice.


  • Taking Accountability for managing the portfolio of delivery contract including major maintenance service providers, energy power stations valued at over $300M per annum.
  • Participate in the Duty Manager on call roster, which provides Melbourne Water with afterhours management of reactive maintenance.
  • Help to foster a culture of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
  • The successful applicant will be deemed a SOCI critical worker.
  • A valid Driver's Licence is required as this role demands daily travel, an operational works vehicle is provided.

About you:

  • You will have an Electrical Engineering tertiary degree and/or extensive experience in electrical infrastructure and distribution, including high voltage networks and governance.
  • You will foster a highperformance culture by setting clear goals, holding people accountable and managing performance.
  • Collaboration will be key to success in this role, engaging with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and industry partners to achieve shared objectives. You will be exceptional at communication, relationship management, with the ability to influence other senior leaders to achieve business outcomes.
  • You will have the experience to lead teams to design and deliver process and system improvements that take full advantage of technology innovations in the energy and contracts space.

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.

Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional ground checks via AusCheck. This role is deemed critical, and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
