VE Group AU Transport Manager role would suit someone who first and foremost aligns to our core values and has a solid background in coordinating transportation operations to optimise efficiency, safety, and client satisfaction. This role involves strategically scheduling and allocating Transport Operators, adhering to corporate, OHS, and NHVR regulations, along with maximising resource utilisation to drive growth and profitability. Demonstrated success in ensuring strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards, coupled with a track record of navigating specification compliance. In addition, experience in financial monitoring to drive operational success within established financial parameters.

As VE Group AU's Transport Manager, you will be responsible for managing the seamless execution of transport logistics projects, overseeing our OSOM Fleet, and coordinating skilled Transport Operators and subcontractors. Your role will entail ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. Reporting directly to the General Manager you will also work closely with the company's Systems, Asset, and Operations Team.

This is an outstanding QLD based logistics management opportunity in which you will have autonomous management of the logistics operations including responsibility for financial performance, safety performance, customer management, fleet management including, legislative compliance and environmental performance. Further, detailed requirements are in the position description which is available on request.

The role encompasses the following responsibilities:

  • Contributing as part of the management team while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Direct, lead and coordinate the successful execution of the transport strategy and function across four locations across Queensland.
  • Manage Transport Operators, and subcontractors to optimise project outcomes.
  • Lead corporate initiatives to drive growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Ensure compliance of fatigue management, safe working, NHVR Compliance, safe loading etc
  • Optimise financial performance by managing budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Recommend recruitment requirements, and lead team learning and development
  • Establish efficient procedures and workflows for transport operations.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives to increase revenue.
  • Uphold high standards of quality and service excellence.
  • Facilitate inspections, internal & external NHVR and QES audits, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide cross-functional support and training.
  • Foster effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

You are an experienced logistics management professional with strong experience/exposure to the logistics and transport function and or general management ideally with a transport and heavy haulage fleet background. You will also have solid experience managing an extensive blue-collar workforce and strong financial ability. You are a team player - someone who is passionate about logistics management with solid, practical skills and knowledge in developing operational performance and capability.

You will thrive on balancing the immediate demands of meeting daily operational requirements with the longer-term strategy and you will demonstrate integrity, a positive attitude and strong technical skills. You will be level-headed and down to earth with exemplary standards of ethical conduct and professional judgment with a positive, resilient, curious and goal oriented nature.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role delivering transportation logistics and heavy haulage.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a demonstrable track record of effectively managing teams and achieving tangible results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven capacity to engage stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Proficiency in contract management, procurement, and strategic planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience - desirable
  • Current and valid car driver's license mandatory - HC/MC desirable
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite and highly skilled in relevant industry IT systems.
  • Your strong interpersonal and communication skills, combined with your understanding of the importance of effective communication and relationship-building within the business, will be invaluable assets in this role.
