Primary Purpose:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Specialist to join our Finance team.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial services to support internal and external reporting and analysis requirements, ensure statutory compliance, and contribute to the achievement of our business objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SAP system expertise to support financial operations effectively.
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of financial advice and reporting for decision makers, ensuring financial accountability and compliance with governance controls and statutory frameworks.
  • Conduct financial and management reporting and analysis to identify issues, risks, and strategic insights, optimizing our financial position.
  • Provide advice and guidance on budget performance, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to divisions, fostering capability and capacity in finance and accounting.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on financial matters, facilitating informed decision making, risk mitigation, and the achievement of efficiency and strategic outcomes.
  • Review and analyze financial information from various sources to provide accurate financial advice, budget allocations, performance reports, briefings, forecasts, and recommendations to staff, senior management, and external agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and government policies, embedding a culture of governance and compliance within the organization.

Key Challenges:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders who may have competing priorities.
  • Stay updated with changing accounting standards, Treasury Policies and guidelines, and other mandatory financial and accounting and reporting requirements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial demonstrated experience providing financial advice, budget forecasting, and performance reporting in a government/public sector environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Commerce, or other relevant field.
  • Eligibility for membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia.
