64 employees across five diverse business units.

Crucial to the organisation's future success, this position requires a visionary, inspiring, and strategic finance executive focused on safety, performance, financial sustainability, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities include:
Leading a high-performing team of 4 direct reports and approx. 64 indirect reports.
Developing short and long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.

Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and participating in steering committees to provide expert advice and service within a complex legislative and political environment.

Managing statutory and monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for Council, inclusive of two commercial business units while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and government objectives.

Overseeing cash flow and appropriate treasury controlsSupport the Council's digital transformation by working with the Implementation Partner to deliver the Digital Transformation ProgramAbout youYou will be an experienced executive finance leader with CA or CPA qualification.

Having developed your career leading larger finance functions, you will be a proven people leader, who understands how to elevate the performance of your teams.

You will most likely have operated in a complex organisational environment, where your business partnering skills have seen you adopt a trusted advisor status across a broad range of stakeholders.


With a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and either Australian or International Accounting Standards and knowledge of director duties, your technical expertise ensures the business is confident in your financial management.

You will posess the knowledge and skills to advise executives and board members and lead the organisation through annual budget development and reviews in addition to financial and performance audits.

Success in strategic leadership, project management, and resource optimisation within budget constraints is essential. Additionally, candidates must excel in stakeholder relations, demonstrating analytical prowess, decisive decision-making, and adeptness in change management.

Naturally, you will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in conflict resolution and advocacy, which are vital for navigating organisational complexities effectively.
