About the Opportunity

We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and motivated apprentice to join our SERCO team at Clarence Correctional Centre. Reporting to the Plumbing Supervisor, the key purpose of the Apprentice Plumber is to develop the knowledge and skills to undertake response and rectification maintenance works to achieve a high standard of performance within the Centre.

What you'll be doing

• Provide a day-to-day response to identified failures.
• Assist with necessary repairs to hydraulic services and fire protection.
• Undertake allocated minor projects as necessary.
• Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.
• Complete safety checks on plant, equipment, and hand tools.
• Safely complete all works including the use of tools and that a 'safety first'
  attitude is adopted.
• Use relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion
  of works.

• Demonstrate effective teamwork by working collaboratively with others to achieve the
  goals and objectives of the Centre.
• Ensure personal conduct is highly professional and appearance conforms to official
  uniform and or dress standards.
• Take all practical steps to create and maintain a culturally sensitive environment including respecting the diversity of inmates, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Abide by a safety culture and follow all health and safety standards and processes.
• Demonstrate the highest level of personal integrity and ethical behavior.

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a Federal police check as an essential selection component for this role.
