Description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is a pioneer in providing aeromedical and primary health care services to individuals in rural, remote, and regional areas.

Currently seeking Medical Officers interested in Aeromedical Retrieval and Telehealth roles.

Who are we seeking?

For success in this role, candidates should:

  • Be registered with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
  • Hold Fellowship of ACEM, ACRRM, ANZCA, CICM or RACGP (Senior Registrars are encouraged to apply)
  • Have adequate experience in critical care medicine to meet QLD Health's credentialing requirements (Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, and Paediatrics).
  • Preferably possess prior experience in Aeromedical Retrieval.

About the Role:

  • Located at Mount Isa Base
  • Part-time positions on 12-month contracts (with extension possibilities)
  • Options for fly-in and fly-out
  • Travel time included in shift schedules

Multiple part-time positions available with the following shift rotations:

  • 3 days/ 3 nights, travel
  • 4-week roster (0.5 FTE), 8-week roster (0.25 FTE)

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the RFDS multi-disciplinary team, including a RFDS Flight Nurse & Pilot, for primary evacuations and transfers between facilities
  • Coordinate aeromedical retrievals with Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ), Duty Tasking Officers, and referring/receiving facilities
  • Conduct care handovers
  • Offer telehealth consultations (via telephone, video-conference, email)
  • Provide guidance to nurses and other healthcare professionals as needed
  • Engage in quality improvement activities such as clinical audits and case reviews
