As the Analytical Chemist, your role involves conducting chemical and electrical analyses of insulating media from various electrical equipment.

Play a leading role by providing technical support and training to team members, maintaining instruments, improving methodologies, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards for safety and quality.

This position is located in Yarraville, Victoria, and is part of the Technical Services, Network Operations Team.

This position will yield tangible outcomes, including:

  • Submit precise and timely data and reports for analysis.
  • Ensure all tasks adhere to quality, safety, and test standards, including SDS application.
  • Apply scientific principles, techniques, and methods with autonomy and initiative.
  • Guide and develop peers.
  • Maintain all quality accreditations (NATA, ISO, etc.).
  • Contribute to the creation of new test procedures.
  • Detect non-conformities within the Laboratory Management System.

You don't have to tick every box; however, we seek a good mix of:

  • Bachelor's degree in applied science (Chemistry) or equivalent, or substantial industry experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of analytical techniques and instrument operation.
  • Proficiency in scientific instrument upkeep, preferably GC and HPLC.
  • Proven experience in a standard scientific lab setting.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong focus on safety.
  • Capability to schedule and prioritize tasks to meet testing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (including OH&S) and suitable test methods.
