This Hospital and Department of General Medicine are seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist – General Medicine vacancies. Looking for experienced and enthusiastic Staff Specialists passionate about practicing holistic general medicine, teaching and mentoring junior medical staff, and contributing to quality improvement in a growing general medicine department.

The Hospital
The Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, we collaborate with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. We strive to provide excellent inpatient and ambulatory care to the 250,000-strong population of southern Tasmania. General medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement. Staff specialists are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates. Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Hold registration with AHPRA and possess a minimum of 12 months recent experience in Gastroenterology.
  • Be enrolled in the RACP training program.
  • Possess the FRACP qualification.
  • Be an IMG eligible for the Competent Authority Pathway from the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or NZ.
  • Be an IMG with an upcoming RACP interview date.
  • Have been assessed by RACP and deemed substantially comparable.
