About the opportunity


Location Intelligence manages the geographic information system (GIS) platform for location analytics and is the source of truth for spatial data within Australia Post.

This role is responsible for servicing the GIS requirements of Australia Post business stakeholders in both Postal and Parcel Services, helping to ensure that GIS use is supported and enhanced.

Strong GIS analytical skills and experience in spatial systems will be required.

This position reports directly to the Head of Location Intelligence and is a critical member of the team in providing strategic enterprise location services & analytics to support revenue generation, improve efficiency & CSO reporting.


What you'll deliver with us


As well as the above you'll provide support, technical advice and geospatial services to the business and you'll actively assist in supporting the maintenance of GIS systems and web based products.


You'll also

  • Providing technical advice, user training and support to clients and project teams
  • Providing support for cartographic design and high quality map production
  • Actively leverage data assets (internal & external) to provide business with valued insights
  • Actively process and manage the GIS SharePoint work queue (task request, projects and incidents)
  • Maintain GIS knowledge portals (including SharePoint and Intranet)
  • Scope, deliver and present findings to stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with business stakeholders to facilitate servicing of GIS requirements
  • Engage and collaborate with specialist where appropriate to understand and recommend solutions to fulfil business needs
  • Work closely with team members to embed GIS and location intelligence in the business

About you


With a tertiary degree or diploma qualification in either Land Information, Surveying, Cartography, IT Systems or equivalent, you'll have excellent mapping, spatial data analysis and programming skills.


You'll also have

  • Advance skills in GIS technology and techniques
  • Strong working knowledge of ESRI
  • Experience with advanced GIS techniques including network modelling, site selection, demographic profiling
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, set priorities and work to deadlines
  • Ability to work with others and to communicate effectively
