About the job

The Regulatory Planning Team Lead at SA Water will oversee a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the organisation is well planned in its compliance with statutory requirements critical to the successful delivery of the Capital program. This role requires proactive engagement and collaboration with a diverse group of internal experts, including those in asset planning, land use policy and planning, development, environmental management, cultural heritage, water quality, customer relations, community engagement, and engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, enabling them to guide their team effectively in delivering high-quality advice and support. This position is pivotal in maintaining SA Water's commitment to regulatory compliance while advancing its strategic goals through coordinated and informed planning initiatives.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Lead a high-performing team which delivers innovative solutions and leading outcomes aligned to corporate values.
  • Lead development of frameworks to manage regulatory approvals for projects are adequately planned for and received on time.
  • Lead the integration of business units across the organisation for all stages of the asset management and capital delivery
  • Develop the technology systems and business processes supporting asset planning and capital delivery
  • Lead the organisational capability and awareness of current and anticipated regulatory requirements

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Aptitude for strategic business planning, prioritisation, and meeting respective approval requirements (including assessment timeframes)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships across multiple stakeholders
  • Significant experience in leadership roles in industries operating within complex statutory and regulatory environments
  • Thorough understanding of statutory requirements relevant to the government and infrastructure sectors
  • Skills in collaboration, communication, negotiation and influencing
  • Demonstrated specialised knowledge and experience in the operation and management of infrastructure projects
  • Possess knowledge of South Australian and Commonwealth approvals legislation and policies
  • Experience managing and contributing to deliver schedules and budgets
  • Experience in managing critical, sensitive and/or complex information and consultation processes with stakeholders and across government agencies
