Level 13, Collins St Provide strategic leadership and direction in the management of the Environmental Health Unit of Public Health Services, to protect and promote the environmental health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian population.


The role:

Provide leadership, direction, and advice across Agencies in managing, promoting, and improving the environmental health of the Tasmanian population.

Generally, promote and foster an understanding and increased awareness of the role and function of the Environmental Health Unit through the development of close links with a range of stakeholders.

Develop a range of innovative and contemporary environmental health strategies to improve the health of Tasmanians, including in areas of communicable diseases and other threats, and ensure the implementation of those strategies.

As the lead specialist in Environmental Health, provide high-level strategic and expert advice to the Director of Public Health, the Agency, other Government Agencies, Minister, Government, Local Government, and the public on environmental health issues.

Provide leadership and direction to the Environmental Health Unit to ensure effective and efficient delivery of high priority regulatory and policy development programs.

Manage the human, financial and physical resources of the Unit, including promoting a performance-based work culture that empowers, motivates and develops the diverse talents of people while ensuring that supervisory and management practices are in accordance with contemporary human resource management practices and policies.

As a member of the senior management team help contribute to the strategic direction for Public Health Services in terms of environmental health approaches to promote health and wellbeing.

Details of Appointment Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.


Salary:
$175,776 to $182,588 per annum.
Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.
2 of 2022 Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Qualification approved by the Director of Public Health for appointment as an Environmental Health officer under the Public Health Act 1997 and an authorised officer under the Food Act 2003 (eg tertiary qualification/program of study approved by Director of Public Health)
