JOB PURPOSE


Reporting to the Head of FP&A, Oceania and based in Sydney, the Brand Controller is responsible for overseeing the business performance of the assigned Maisons both in Australia and New Zealand entities, with key focus on management reporting including monthly variance and ratio analyses, providing financial recommendations to management and will be involved in month-end closing processes.

This person will be involved in driving / supporting the evaluation of Maison investment appraisals and supporting the Head of FP&A in various ad hoc transversal analyses and / or projects.

As a Brand Controller, this person is responsible for the integrity of financial and operation controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Key local finance business partner for assigned Maisons in their daily operational finance support.
  • Jointly responsible with Regional Brand Controllers (based in Singapore) for monthly Maison performance reporting processes, ensuring the accuracy of reporting which represent the commercial reality of markets. This includes reviewing brand financials (monthly variance / ratio analyses, etc), preparing commentaries and conducting regular reviews with Maison Management and departments.
  • Monitor business and cost trends, analyse financial impacts of budget/ forecast deviations, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Drive insightful analysis and financial visibility to enable strategic and operational decisions.
  • Supporting the Regional Brand Controllers in their annual budgeting, monthly and quarterly rolling forecast exercises including providing local insights and knowledge, simulations, system reporting, etc.
  • Driving or supporting the Regional Brand Controllers in the evaluation of Maison investment appraisals.
  • Providing operational support and compliant solutions including system maintenance supports e.g. approval matrix, profit/cost centre, internal orders etc.
  • Promote financial discipline within the Maison's teams, ensure compliance with group and statutory finance policies.
  • Supporting the Head of FP&A in ad hoc Regional / Transversal analyses or projects.
  • Participate in stock count & other control compliance activities as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University graduate of tertiary educational institute; professional qualifications in Accounting (CPA / CA) preferred
  • Minimum 35 years' experience in a financial planning and experience in accounting/auditing would be advantageous
  • Strong experience or knowledge of SAP and technical accounting
  • Strong commercial sense and with business partnering experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in the use of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in data analytics and financial modelling (e.g. Excel)
  • Experience in a retail business would be advantageous
  • Strong relationship management, excellent interpersonal & communication skills and influencing skills particularly with business professionals
  • Positive and cando attitude, curiosity and a taste for challenges
  • Strong analytical thinking and problemsolving capability
