About the role


Being part of the Packaging Division of Visy, the five Visy Glass plants in Australia and New Zealand manufacture Glass containers, mainly used for food and beverages, the Electrical Designer can be based in either: Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.


The Electrical Designer is a professional responsible for designing, developing, drafting, and maintaining electrical, instrumentation and control related drawings and documents required for new projects as well as for operating, maintaining and repair systems and equipment used in glass manufacturing processes.

Glass manufacturing involves a variety of complex processes that require precise control and automation of electrical systems to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety.


Duties

  • Collaborate with engineers, production managers, and other stakeholders to design and draft electrical, instrumentation and control related drawings and documents that assist in facilitating the production of glass products. This includes but are not limited to power distribution systems, control panels, automation systems, layouts, and safety circuits.
  • Ensure that the designs meet codes and regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and compliance with industry standards.
  • Accurate and detailed documentation of electrical designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications is crucial. This documentation is used for installation, maintenance, and future modifications. Designs and drawings to be managed through the Visy PDM (product data management) systems
  • Autodesk Vault.

What you will bring to the team

  • At least five (5) years' experience in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control system design for heavy / manufacturing industry
  • Diploma in Electrical Drafting/Engineering essential.
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation design principles, including switchboards, MCCs, control systems, industrial instrumentation
  • Experience with PDM (product data management) systems, preferred Autodesk Vault
  • Professional skillset and experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong working knowledge of AS3000 and other relevant electrical codes.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships, facilitate and influence, with good interpersonal skills
  • A bias for action, having the energy and drive to progress tasks to conclusion
  • Ability to plan and implement
  • Sound time management skills and the ability to manage multiple project tasks at the same time
