The Opportunity

We have a full-time vacancy for a dynamic and motivated Operations Controller to join our National Support Office located in Pymble. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fast paced environment that provides great job satisfaction in a supportive team unit within a growing company.

Role Responsibilities

Working in the Operations Control Centre (OCC) will provide insight into the daily operations of the public transport industry. Being a part of an office/traffic control environment where you are responsible for communicating accurate information to our bus drivers. Reporting to the Operations Control Centre Manager, this role requires you to have a mature and professional approach with excellent communication skills.

The responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to:

  • Data entry tasks through Microsoft Office suite (Excel & Word)
  • Monitoring bus movements across our network through using screen based equipment and bus graphs/maps
  • Dealing with incident management and government reporting guidelines
  • Adhering to and enforcing set KPI's
  • Monitoring and maintaining our in-house programs
  • Monitoring and responding to our bus drivers through two-way communication systems (i.e. two-way radios) and, liaising with bus drivers to direct and instruct movement across Busways' operational networks
  • Implementing alternative plans in the event where accidents or disruptions occur to Busways' operational networks
  • Working as part of a team and autonomously when necessary
  • Liaising with customers after hours via messages for our Cooee on demand service

The successful applicant will be required to have flexibility in their start and finish times in order to accommodate operational needs. This allows us to ensure that our OCC department are able to monitor our hours of service (i.e. the times in which our buses are out on the road).

Essential Experience/Skills

  • Excellent communication skills to provide clear and concise information to our bus drivers
  • Intermediate computer skills - experience in using including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure within a fast paced environment and completing multiple tasks at any given time
  • Demonstrable problem-solving and attention to detail skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a track record as a team player
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to take ownership
  • A valid NSW drivers licence
  • Must be either a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of the Greater Western Sydney region
  • Operations/controller experience within a similar industry or scope

Prior experience within a similar role is preferred. Full training will be provided to the right applicant that demonstrates the potential to work within such environment.
