Hardware Engineering Lead

Kalogon, an early stage startup based in Melbourne, seeks a motivated Engineering Lead to help us as we expand our product line into new markets, further our award-winning product Orbiter, and grow our newest products, Booster and Orbiter Med.
This newly created role would work closely with the early-stage development teams and cross-functionally with production, product, and other internal stakeholders to ensure our product visions are brought to life through solid design for manufacture and process development.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage engineering team of to work through designs, challenges, and in collaboration with key internal partners
Transition prototypes to final producible designs, with buy-in from all key stakeholders
Solve technical and emergent issues in the manufacturing environment
Oversee design production tooling and create processes for successful bring-up of new production capabilities.
Manage supply chain of internal components on new and existing products
Develop work instructions for assembly of new products
Create new processes for evaluating product quality at scale
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify and correct production inefficiencies
Bring up of new manufacturing processes and methods
Determine requirements for quality inspections and control processes, as well as methods for containing non-conforming hardware
Responsible for designing enclosures for new products
Use design for manufacturing best practices for injection molding to develop producible enclosures for mass production
Responsible for creating work instructions for assembling new and existing products
Serve as a part of the leadership team within the organization
Qualifications
B.S. or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering or similar
At least 6 years of experience and able to excel in this role
Managerial experience with happy, productive teams
Previous experience in product development for medical devices. aerospace, or automotive industry highly desired
Proficient in CAD software such as Solidworks, OnShape, Siemens NX, PTC Creo
Previous experience converting a finalized design to injection moldable products
Export-Control Requirements
To conform to the U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
