The Role

The Corporate Affairs Manager is a newly created and critical role in the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability team focused on protecting and promoting the reputation and public policy interests of MLC Life Insurance, as well as its customers and distribution partners.

You will play a key role in planning and executing the corporate affairs strategies of MLC Life Insurance across media & external communications, government & public policy and sustainability.

To succeed in doing so, you will play a multi-faceted role in communications, engagement and advocacy, including public policy position, narrative and messaging development with media, government and other stakeholders relevant to the life insurance industry.

Working with our Media and External Communications Manager, you will plan, drive, and execute media relations and external communications activities across all channels.

You will also partner with our Head of Government and Public Policy to achieve government, public policy, and regulatory affairs objectives, ensuring that the strategy, creation and dissemination of public policy positions and submissions are well considered, credible and effective with government and industry bodies.

About You

You possess a minimum of 10+ years of experience in corporate affairs, external affairs, industry affairs, media and/or government relations within a highly regulated environment.

You can speak to your success in managing corporate affairs, working proactively and reactively across media and external communications and political and public policy campaigns and their execution.

Your understanding of working with the government and media, coupled with your well-established network and relationships and the ability to cut through organisational bureaucracy will allow you to deliver quick, high-quality turnarounds on key artefacts.

Lastly, you possess outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal) that will enable you to create briefing notes, presentations, media materials, speeches and digital content.
