This position ensures that the daily operations of all the health-based laboratory facilities are well maintained and equipped to operate effectively and efficiently through the provision of expert technical support in Nursing and Clinical Health teaching and simulation facilities across multiple campuses.


The role supports the delivery of nursing, clinical health, dental and pathology, providing students and teachers with an optimum environment and support for practice-based teaching and learning.


Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Coordinating equipment and material procurement for all course areas within Nursing and Clinical Health and in collaboration with managers and teaching staff, contribute to the development and maintenance of policies for laboratory services, contributing to the development of best practice methodologies.
  • Liaising with staff and students to provide expert advice, support, guidance and training to ensure safe laboratory practices and techniques as well as managing the laboratories as clean and safe work environments in compliance with appropriate legislation and Institute guidelines.
  • Engaging with employers and industry representatives to ensure teaching equipment within clinical labs meets currency and industry and employer needs.
  • Collaborating and developing key partnerships with industry bodies and employers to ensure currency in educational delivery and materials.
  • Supporting the educational and program managers with building key partnerships with industry and employers to refresh educational delivery and practices.

ABOUT YOU


You will have a relevant degree in Nursing, Medical or Science with significant work experience specific to the Health Industry and subsequent post degree experience in a clinical laboratory, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and or experience.


Crucial to your success in the role will be your ability to provide high quality technical laboratory support with the capacity to develop innovative approaches to management of programs and exploit opportunities to improve the delivery of laboratory services.


The following skills and experience are essential:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of nursing and clinical health laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
  • Proven competency with simulation mannequin technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OH&S regulations and guidelines governing the effective operation of laboratories.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team within a busy environment, to problem solve and manage multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, stock management and maintenance.
  • Advanced literacy and numeracy skills, proven administrative skills including management of databases/inventory in a laboratory.
