Management (Information & Communication Technology)Full timeAdd expected salary to your profile for insightsThe Business Intelligence and Data Access (BIDA) team is vital part of the Technology and Data Branch which enables the National Health and Medical Research Council to perform its legislative functions.

The purpose of the team is to support NHMRC's business operations by providing business and process analysis services to identify, understand and prioritise future requirements and engage with teams across the Technology and Data branch to estimate and plan for the implementation of technical solutions.

The process improvement function within the team assists business teams by analysing and documenting existing processes to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and unlock capacity.

The team is also responsible for the development and execution of the Data Management Strategy ensuring that all data and information across NHMRC is effectively managed to support improved quality and access.

The team is also responsible for performing several key secretariat functions to ensure the effective control of grant programs.

As the Director your key duties will include:

  • Leadership and people management
  • Stakeholder engagement (internal and external)
  • Leadership of business analysis to understand requirements and estimate future costs for project delivery
  • Supporting business teams to document and review their business processes, using data from activity costing exercises and identifying opportunities for efficiency
  • Leading business improvement and organisational change management
  • Establishing and reviewing key performance indicators, particularly around business processes
  • Determination of project costs, including setting up a service catalogue of costs for managing grants from application through to administration
  • Providing advice on digital transformation priorities and processes, particularly as they relate to business improvement
  • Secretariat for several NHMRC internal governance forums
  • Leading NHMRC's data management strategy and governance activities
  • Providing a centre of excellence for Business and Process Analysis as well as User Centred Design within the organisation to develop and share training and templates to enable teams across the organisation to adopt these skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • Good judgement and high-level strategic-thinking skills, including resolution of complex problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and write complex briefings and papers effectively and to a consistently high standard
  • The ability to work with limited direction and flexibly across different projects
  • The ability to lead teams and manage complex work with tight timeframes
  • Experience in leading and cultivating a positive and productive work environment
  • Well-developed financial planning, budgeting, and tracking skills
  • Strong ability to prioritise and deliver high quality results
  • Experience managing multi-vendor arrangements with the ability to build effective partner relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong strategic and contemporary technical skills and awareness including an understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends.

To be eligible for this role you must be an Australian citizen and willing to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
