Dental Assistants are integral members of the dental health team.

A Dental Assistant Trainee will develop the skills to support the dental operator in the provision of direct patient care in accordance with policy and procedure guidelines.

They will prepare the patient and work areas for dental treatments and procedures including recording dental histories and medical information.

The dental assistant is required to contribute to the provision of a high quality efficient and effective dental health services to patients.

To be the successful applicant for this position, you will need the following attributes:

  • Understanding and interest in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and commit to study requirements.
  • Demonstrate basic customer service skills, orientated towards patient centred care.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take on feedback and learn effectively on the job.
The Dental Assistant Trainee will perform a variety of duties ranging from:

  • Maintaining the clinic environment in a clean and safe manner
  • Supporting infection control practices
  • Making the patient as comfortable as possible in the dental chair
  • Providing chair side assistance for the dental operator
  • Preparing dental instruments and materials for the dental treatment
  • Assist patients with general oral health
  • Contributing to the administrative duties
  • The traineeship program will provide onthejob training, off site classroom sessions and hands on practical based workshops.
