Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Aquila Mine are seeking a Deputy on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work with our industry-leading remotely operated autonomous longwall technology, where our Aquila Mine won the Outstanding Mine Performance category at the 2023 Australian Mining Prospect Awards.

Your role as a Deputy is to be accountable for ensuring legislative compliance for all activities completed as per the site operations plan. This role sees you accountable for managing the safety, productivity, and reporting of all personnel and resources.

• In this role you must provide effective leadership of the operational teams in accordance with the daily plan.
• Direct, control and manage mine performance within the shift/day to ensure high standards of safety, quality and productivity are achieved.
• Your proactive approach, proven management experience, demonstrated leadership ability to deliver exceptional results, strong interpersonal skills and commitment to Zero Harm will be the key to your success in the role.
• You will have extensive experience working within the underground coal mining industry with demonstrated understanding of the coal mining process and the relevant mining legislation.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role you will have the following:

• Queensland Deputy or (1st or 2nd or 3rd Class) Certificate of Competence or NSW Certificate with Mutual Recognition is essential.
• Current First Aid Certificate – Minimum Provide First Aid
• Current RIIIS301 – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1)
• Current RIIOHS301 – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (S2)
• Current RIICOM301 – Communicate Information (S3)
• Current RIIRIS402 – Carry out Risk Management Process (G2)
