Our client, an international paint manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Lab Technician to join their team in South-East of Melbourne.

This role will be responsible for accurately documenting project information, formulating and testing products, maintaining equipment, resolving inquiries, optimizing formulations, ensuring compliance, evaluating competitive products, and verifying alternate raw material sources.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Document project information accurately and promptly.
  • Formulate and test current products under guidance or supervision to meet customer requirements.
  • Formulate and test development products under guidance or supervision to meet customer requirements.
  • Load and update formulation information on the computer server.
  • Provide assistance in factory colour matching as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and perform calibrations according to schedule.
  • Perform exposure testing and maintain records as directed.
  • Assist in resolving production and customer inquiries.
  • Optimize formulations as required.
  • Update colour standards as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, and actively drive improvements.
  • Actively participate in yearly raw material stocktakes and EH&S training.
  • Maintain clear communication with Manager, Supervisor, and relevant parties regarding project status.
  • Evaluate competitive products.
  • Conduct testing and verification of alternate sources of raw materials and issue specifications.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience in R&D or production environment, or relevant tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical products and associated laboratory workflows.
  • Regular communication with technical team leaders to manage expectations and timelines.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in paint technology.
  • Effective time management.
