Chief Technology Officer

  • Exciting opportunity to act as a change agent for the business and IT strategy
  • Senior position advising the CEO, Board, and Executive
  • Work with purpose, for a member-based organisation

The RCPA is the leading organisation representing Pathologists and Pathology Senior Scientists in Australasia. For those who are not already familiar with this area of medicine, pathology is about the study of the causes of disease and pathologists are the specialist medical doctors involved in the diagnosis and monitoring of almost all acute and chronic illnesses. As a way of background, the College was first established in 1956 and has been responsible for the training and professional development of Pathologists since that time and more recently Pathology Senior Scientists. College members come from across Australasia including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia. The RCPA is also responsible for the promotion of the science and practice of pathology.

Following the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer and realignment of the operating model, RCPA are now seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join the leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer you will provide strategic leadership to the Information Technology (IT) department and play a pivotal role in the technology transformation across the organisation. You will establish trust and credibility through the provision of advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership team and Senior Managers, identifying opportunities to optimise business operations through technology. A key focus for the role will be to lead the development and delivery of the strategic priorities, ensuring the IT and Digital strategies are future-oriented, customer-centric, and aligned with the organisation's strategic and operational objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will be highly regarded as a strategic leader with significant IT/Digital Technology experience within a large, complex, customer-focused organisation. You will be innovative in your thinking and demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence to inspire, influence, and enhance capability across your team, and will operate as a collaborative business partner with your internal stakeholders. You are experienced in providing leadership as a change agent, leading the RCPA technology strategy, execution, and operations. Exposure to Bioinformatics and the use of AI in business improvement will also be well regarded.

With a tertiary qualification in technology or business, and proven experience leading a technology services function, you will have well-developed business acumen, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to influence across the organisation. An academic or scientific understanding or experience would be advantageous. Your solutions-focused approach and 'make it happen' mindset will be the driving force behind your success in this important and exciting role with the RCPA.
