  • Why this role matters


The Doorways program provides person centred care to community members experiencing financial or other forms of hardship through the provision of financial and material emergency relief.

Case management is provided at some of the Doorways sites to engage people through early intervention as well as address long term disadvantage to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate financial hardship.

Our practitioners are strength based and trauma informed in their practice to build individual capacity, resilience and wellbeing.

About the role


We are seeking a values-driven Case Worker who will support community members to meet their goals through community partnerships, collaboration and using case management as a tool.

You will successfully

  • Work collaboratively with Corps Officers, Volunteers, and other colocated Mission Leaders to deliver an integrated approach to delivering Doorways at the local site
  • Build and maintain relationships within TSA and with local community stakeholders to identify local resources, community needs, and opportunities for collaboration
  • Assessment of community members' specific needs, strengths and identification of interrelated issues and needs
  • Develop high quality case plans with community members to identify achievable goals using a strength based approach.
  • Use prevention and early intervention strategy and response to deliver support and services to people experiencing disadvantage and financial hardship


We have a fixed-term full-time position (38 hrs per week) based at four locations (Caloundra, Nambour, Maroochydore and Noosa), with some flexibility to negotiate when these hours are worked across the Monday to Friday working week.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS level 4 award.

You will have

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • A minimum qualification of a Diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. Community Services Work) is required
  • Experience in establishing and developing collaborative networks and partnerships with internal partners and external organisations
  • Demonstrable experience in working with disadvantaged Community Members to assist them to effect positive change in their lives
  • Demonstrate an understanding of structural poverty, the issues faced by people in longterm hardships, and the provision of social services and Emergency Relief services in Australia
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • A valid Employee Working with Children Card (Blue Card)
  • A valid Driver's licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle and willingness to use for workrelated purposes (mileage paid for workrelated travel)
