Manager/Senior Associate - Valuations and Pricing Australia's $3.7 trillion superannuation industry is facing a shifting landscape influenced by increased regulatory pressures, disruptive technologies, changes in demographics and ever-changing member expectations.

Oversee valuations of unlisted investments across infrastructure, debt/credit and private equity Make a difference by delivering outcomes for our millions of members Ideally based in Melbourne Your new role Recognising that the Australian Super's investment portfolio is growing in both size and complexity, the Fund has created a centralised Valuation Team to own the valuations of the Fund's unlisted investments.
As a Manager/Senior Associate of the Valuation Team you will assist the team in working with independent valuers and the Fund's Asset Class teams to ensure a robust end-to-end valuation process of a portfolio of assets totalling ~$40b (and growing) spanning infrastructure, private equity and debt/credit assets.
Ideally, this role will be based in Melbourne.Key Duties will include:
Reviewing independent valuations undertaken for the various unlisted assets (across infrastructure, debt/credit and private equity) on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly cycle.
Managing valuation risk by ensuring valuation conclusions are appropriate and ensure we have robust documentation including excel work papers and memos to support our valuation conclusions based on shadow valuations undertaken.
Undertaking valuations of certain investments where they are not valued externally.Contributing to the management of the composition of the Fund's panel of valuers including co-ordinating RFPs for new assets or when rotation is required, engaging new valuers.
Supporting the development, refinement and implementation of appropriate valuation control processes and documentation for the ongoing review of the value of unlisted investments.
Providing data analytics for various purposes including provision of information to the Board and various other sub-committees.Engaging with internal and external stakeholders such as the Valuation Committee, asset teams, external and internal auditors, regulators and rating agencies.
Monitoring ongoing performance of unlisted assets and the markets within which they operate with a view to flagging out of cycle valuations.
Support the team in addressing issues arising out of audit findings as the relate to valuations.Overseeing, refining and evolving the valuation process for all non-tradable and illiquid assets, both internally and externally managed.
Support the team to establish processes to ensure the valuations of the Fund's unlisted assets is in accordance with the Fund's Valuation Policy and are recorded with the Fund's Custodian in a timely and accurate manner.
Developing and managing junior team members to foster a positive team environment that is centred on continued value creation.What you'll need Relevant experience utilising various valuation techniques and methodologies (market comparables, discounted cash flow, etc) to value businesses, equity interests and/or debt instruments.
Experience within business valuation firms or practices, or in venture capital, investment banking, commercial banking, financial research, or an internal corporate finance role.
Experience in Excel-based financial analysis.Experience using Capital IQ and Bloomberg.
Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal).
Experience in preparing and reviewing formal scoping documents.
Self-starter comfortable working in a team where project management of multiple tasks is required.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal and teaming skills.
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or related field.
Postgraduate qualifications such as CA/CPA or CFA preferable.
